The Pink Grave House of Christine Latham
The Upton County Historical Society was entrusted with raising funds to preserve one of McCamey’s most poignant landmarks—the Pink Grave House of Christine Latham, located in Resthaven Cemetery. Built by her father, Lem Latham, around 1937, the small structure stands as a lasting tribute to Christine, who tragically passed away at a young age after suffering severe burns caused by linseed oil and enduring multiple surgeries.
Over the decades, the Pink Grave House has become a symbol of remembrance and local compassion. Residents and visitors alike have lovingly left teddy bears and toys on the site, honoring Christine’s memory and the enduring spirit of childhood she represents.
This unique and tender memorial holds a special place in the hearts of the McCamey community and reflects the deep-rooted traditions of remembrance and care that define Upton County.
